Community High School 246 is located in the community of Ocotenco, in the municipality of Tianguistenco. It has an enrollment of 73 students and a teaching staff of three teachers, who work to foster learning in the classroom under the supervision of an administrator. While the community is a mix of urban and rural areas, it faces challenges that combine social inequality, marginalization, and limited economic conditions—characteristics common to municipalities with low or medium levels of development in the state.

The institution lacks its own facilities for teaching classes, and the community does not have spaces for community activities, resulting in a shortfall in educational quality for the holistic development of children, youth, and adults. The lack of appropriate spaces limits access to educational and training opportunities, as well as cultural activities that could provide valuable alternatives for improving the community’s quality of life and social progress.

The establishment of this multifunctional center represents a comprehensive strategy to combat social backwardness and marginalization, strengthen the social fabric, and foster long-term community growth through initiatives that generate local employment and entrepreneurship, promote public health and provide care for vulnerable populations through our partners—which is why they have reached out to the “Construyendo” team.
